The Green Family Foundation (GFF) proudly announces we are joining Women's International Film & Arts Festival (WIFF) as sponsors for this weekend's 6th annual event. Spanning five days (March 30 - April 3), this year's festival will feature 50 films -- all produced and/or directed by women.
"They had me at 'only seven percent of today's film directors are women,'" recalled GFF President Kimberly Green. "As a film-maker myself, I am extremely honored for this opportunity to work with this amazing organization, led by WIFF President & Founder Yvonne McCormack-Lyons, to help promote and amplify the voices of women worldwide through film."
WIFF's mission is to become the "premiere film festival in the world for women to network, screen their films, and recognize the brilliance and accomplishments of women throughout the globe. We believe the images of women on film directly effect how women are perceived, valued and treated in society."
GFF is sponsoring two of the fifty films this weekend:
"Haiti: One Day, One Destiny" by Michele Stephenson
Screening Time/Date: 7:30 pm, Friday, April 1
Location: Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center
"Pushing The Elephant" by Beth Davenport and Elizabeth Mandel
Screening Time/Date: 7:30 pm, Saturday, April 2
Location: Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center

World Water Day
"As the world charts a more sustainable future, the crucial interplay among water, food and energy is one of the most formidable challenges we face. Without water there is no dignity and no escape from poverty. Yet the millennium development goal target for water and sanitation is among those on which many countries lag the most." - Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon
According to the UN's Millennium Development Goals website:
"Half of the world's people live in cities today, and the urban population is growing rapidly. About 828 million people live in slums or informal settlements, often without safe drinking water or toilets. World Water Day (22 March) this year focuses on "Water for cities: responding to the urban challenge." Events around the world spotlight the impacts of population growth, industrialization, climate change, conflicts and natural disasters on urban water systems."
The Green Family Foundation focuses on achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals with every project we undertake - you should too!

With millions of women being celebrated around the world, we wanted to highlight one woman who probably had a very difficult and dangerous day: Tawakul Karman. This extraordinary 32-year old, mother of three, runs Women Journalists Without Chains, a group based in Yemen that defends human rights.
Tawakul Karman's day was tough because today is Tuesday and she has led peaceful protests in Yemen every Tuesday since 2007.
Her day was tough because she is a Yemeni woman in a country dubbed "the worst place on earth to be a woman." (guardian.co.ok, May 11, 2008),
And her day was tough because the BBC is reporting that one hour ago "security forces in Yemen have opened fire at a large protest outside the university in the capital, Sanaa" -- where Tawakul protests every Tuesday.
Today, we pray that Tawakul Karman's vision for an equal, free and just Yemen has survived another day. -- Kimberly Green, President, The Green Family Foundation
TIME Magazine featured Tawakul Karman in "16 of History's Most Rebellious Women." Please visit TIME's site to learn more about her and many other brave women around the world.
