With millions of women being celebrated around the world, we wanted to highlight one woman who probably had a very difficult and dangerous day: Tawakul Karman. This extraordinary 32-year old, mother of three, runs Women Journalists Without Chains, a group based in Yemen that defends human rights.

Tawakul Karman's day was tough because today is Tuesday and she has led peaceful protests in Yemen every Tuesday since 2007.

Her day was tough because she is a Yemeni woman in a country dubbed "the worst place on earth to be a woman." (guardian.co.ok, May 11, 2008),

And her day was tough because the BBC is reporting that one hour ago "security forces in Yemen have opened fire at a large protest outside the university in the capital, Sanaa" -- where Tawakul protests every Tuesday.
