For the first time since its new studio opened in Haiti, Ayikodans will be appearing at the Arsht Center next weekend, Dec. 20-22, in four performances that will feature the world premiere of a new work by Artistic Director Jeanguy Saintus called “Tribulations.” This new work was conceived, created and rehearsed in the dance company’s new space in Haiti, built with your support. We urge you to celebrate this remarkable achievement by attending one of the performances next week – and by encouraging others to do the same. Ayikodans | December 20 - 22 Carnival Studio Theater (in the Ziff Ballet Opera House) Following 3 sold-out seasons at the Arsht Center, Ayikodans, “Haiti’s premier dance troupe” (Miami New Times), returns to Miami to thrill audiences with a world premiere, Tribulations, and an expanded version of Danse de l’arraignée (Dance of the Spider) – all performed by the company’s incredibly fierce dancers and accompanied by an ensemble of drummers and vocalists. Ayikodans returns to the Arsht Center with its signature blend of Haitian-Contemporary technique that fuses folk, improvisation, voodoo religious culture, along with African, indigenous Indian and French influences. This ninety minute master class with live music, led by Founder and Artistic Director Jeanguy Saintus will focus on the fusion of contemporary technique with traditional Haitian dance.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.
