The Haitian dance company Ayikodans, directed by acclaimed choreographer Jeanguy Saintus, exploded onto the Kravis Center's Rinker Playhouse stage Saturday night to a sold-out performance.
A rousing evening of spiraling shapes, contorted lines and passionate cadences that define the deep-rooted struggles of the Haitian people was beautifully encased within the choreography created by Saintus and dramatically framed by Albert Crawford’s lighting design, producing surreal environments for the dancers to convey their passionate plea.

Dear Ayikodans and Arsht Center supporters:
For the first time since its new studio opened in Haiti, Ayikodans will be appearing at the Arsht Center next weekend, Dec. 20-22, in four performances that will feature the world premiere of a new work by Artistic Director Jeanguy Saintus called “Tribulations.” This new work was conceived, created and rehearsed in the dance company’s new space in Haiti, built with your support. We urge you to celebrate this remarkable achievement by attending one of the performances next week – and by encouraging others to do the same. Tickets are available on the Center’s website or via our Box Office, 305-949-6722.
Ayikodans is stronger than ever – and we want the world to know! This talented dance company has sold out its past three seasons at the Arsht Center and we need your help to keep this amazing record going.
Please forward the information below to your friends, family members and colleagues to help us spread the good word about Ayikodans’ triumphant return to Miami, and to continue your inspirational support of these dancers.
We hope you can join us next week for what promises to be the company’s strongest appearance ever, with presenting support from the Green Family Foundation!
Warm regards,
John Richard

Ayikodans returns to the Arsht Center with its signature blend of Haitian-Contemporary technique that fuses folk, improvisation, voodoo religious culture, along with African, indigenous Indian and French influences. This ninety minute master class with live music, led by Founder and Artistic Director Jeanguy Saintus will focus on the fusion of contemporary technique with traditional Haitian dance.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. We have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help!
