Democracy Lives in Miami
Jan 30, 2018, 09:00 ET

MIAMI, Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Democracy Lives in Miami is a socio-political enterprise that brings together conservative, progressive and independent citizens to speak up in support of our democratic values and ideals. This movement will pinnacle with a one-night, non-partisan event at the Proscenium Theater at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex on February 8th.

Democracy Lives in Miami aims at bringing the community together under a set of core democratic values that are the fundamental beliefs and constitutional principles of Americans. It encourages respect, tolerance and dialogue among citizens, while empowering them to understand their role in this democracy.

The event will consist of a cocktail reception, followed by a theater-style presentation that focuses on the messages at hand and hopes to stimulate community-driven actions. Democracy Lives in Me, An American Narrative is a group monologue of notable South Florida leaders who will share personal "American" stories. Written by Peter Montgomery and directed by Broadway talent Joel Silberman, City Court Judge Al Milian, Maria Garza, Founder, Mexican American Council, T. Willard Fair, President & CEO, The Urban League of Greater Miami, Rabbi Solomon Schiff, Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, Santra Denis, VP of Community Prosperity, Catalyst Miami, and David Lawrence will perform a group monologue that intertwines their stories as it relates to their commitment to democratic values.
